Diana Ross and the Supremes covering “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
I find Ross’s sweet voice mesmerizing because it’s incapable of carrying weighty emotions. Even in “Stop In the Name of Love,” the chorus feels more like a plea than a command. Ross is a diva with no fangs.
On this track, Ross can’t muster the anger that made the original such a slap in the face. This cover is all about longing — slow, sinuous, pent-up desire.
